There are only two minor bowl games left — kind of hors d’oeuvres before the national championship game on Monday — and since these have little bearing on the consciousness of the football fan, their picks shall be combined into one article. It makes sense, because these games will be played on Saturday and Sunday, completely overshadowed by the NFL playoffs.
Saturday’s bowl game is the BBVA Compass Bowl between the Big East’s Pittsburgh Panthers and the SEC’s Ole Miss Rebels. Sunday’s bowl is the GoDaddy.com Bowl between the Sun Belt champion Arkansas State Red Wolves and the MAC runners-up Kent State Golden Flashes, neither of whom have the head coaches who got them there.
A quick pick for each, a little explanation, and we’re done here. Sound good?
2013 Compass Bowl Pick: Pittsburgh | The money is on Ole Miss but I like this Pitt defense, and the offense doesn’t turn the ball over.
2013 GoDaddy.com Bowl Pick: Arkansas State | Arkie State’s quarterback, Ryan Aplin, is having a tremendous year and he can lead the way in a high-scoring game.
