If last night’s Sugar Bowl has proven anything, it’s that when you think you can explain a football game (or any sporting event), you can’t. Florida, a heavy favorite, seemed like the safe pick because they had the top pass defense in the nation and one of the best overall. Teddy Bridgewater didn’t care much for those NCAA stats, however.
The point I’m trying to make is that sometimes, it’s better to just make a pick based on your gut, which is what I’ll do the rest of the way.
The next bowl game isn’t a BCS bowl, but it’s the last bowl of any importance before the title game. This year’s Cotton Bowl will feature the Texas A&M Aggies of the SEC and the Oklahoma Sooners of the Big 12.

Think about it: last year, this was a Big 12 conference game, Mike Sherman was the coach, and people would have said “Johnny who?” Now look where this program stands.
Oklahoma is Oklahoma, and they typically acquit themselves well, but it’s hard to pick against the team with the current Heisman Trophy winner. I’ve done it, but not this time.
